Curated Seed Collaboration with Halden Garden | Gardening

I’m preparing for our twenty twenty one garden. I, of course, have my favorites to grow, but I love trying a couple new varieities each year to work into the mix. This year, i’m going to be focusing on our favorites because I think we are going to attempt propagating and starting a small garden plot at our land (if we can figure out a water source). I’m trying to not stretch myself too thin but I also know there are so many veggies i’ve love to preserve, herbal goodness I like to craft and flowers to be enjoyed + dried.

When Halden Garden reached out, I thought it was a great opportunity to share some of my favorite seeds as well as new seeds i’ll be growing this year. On their website you can find a collection of non gmo seeds curated by me to start your own gardens: a floral garden, an herbalist garden, and a kitchen garden.

Most of the seeds included in these sets are seeds that I love to grow in my garden and have success with, a couple are new varieties i’ve wanted to try. Favorites like cosmos, radishes, and carrots, and some new seeds like shirley poppies, hollyhocks + strawflowers i’m excited to grow for the first time.

Where we are in the Midwest is zone 4b but sometimes i think our garden itself 5a from our average first frost and things that seem to emerge earlier than other places in our area. it’s like it’s own mini ecosystem. i choose varieties that do well in succession and in our shorter growing season.

10% of the profit from the sale of these seed collections will be donated to Soul Fire Farm whose work is focused on uprooting racism and cultivating seed sovereignty in the food system.
